HEAT SOFTBALL TRAVEL TEAMS

Great question! Our largest tryout is usually held in June of each year, to assemble teams that will play Fall & Spring seasons.

We currently offer teams from 12U through 16U, and hope to expand to more age groups in the future!

At certain age groups we will field multiple teams based on the amount of players interested in participating.

While specific schedule details will vary from team to team, here is a general sense of the schedule and time commitment for our softball teams:

Spring - Teams will have Indoor Winter Workouts twice a week beginning after Thanksgiving, and leading all the way up to the start of the season in late March. We transition to outdoor practices in early April for the rest of the season. Games are primarily in the format of weekend doubleheaders, beginning at the end of March/early April and continuing through the first weekend of June.

Summer - Season begins in early June and runs into early August. Teams can expect to have multiple weeknights of games and/or practices each week, along with some weekend doubleheaders.

Fall - Teams will begin practices (twice weekly) and games after Labor Day, and continue through the end of October, or early November (weather permitting). Games are again primarily in the format of weekend doubleheaders.

We understand that many players have busy schedules not limited to just softball, and we do not mandate 100% attendance at practices/games to maintain your roster spot. As a general philosophy, we offer two practices a week during Spring/Fall seasons in the hope that every player can make at least one session to ensure they are getting enough softball development.

Our aim is to always field a competitive team and find appropriate (and local) opponents to play to create a challenging yet rewarding team experience.

We have fielded teams of varying talent levels in the past, and while winning is nice, the bottom line is we are always focused on finding the best fit for each team to promote development and growth in our players from one season to the next.

Most of our teams usually participate in at least one local tournament each season.

For teams at older age levels that are ready to be challenged against higher-level competition, we do look to incorporate some more tournament play into our schedule based on what we believe is appropriate for each team.

In addition to tournaments hosted locally in Westchester, our teams have a history of participating in tournaments with the following organizations: The Rock Sports Park (Chester NY), FastPitch Nation (Windsor CT), regional USSSA events (Long Island, NJ, CT, MD).

New players will receive a HEAT jersey top, and socks.

We do not provide pants - players should supply their own. Black pants are preferred.
